“WHAT are you doing all day long?!” I am asked frequently.
Good question!
And good questions should be answered.

Cheerful whisteling I walk my legs uphill into the cloud forest of Cloudbridge.
Today I hike the second third of the nature reserve and the sun is not shining. The cloud forest presents itself in clouds. Continue reading “Hiking in San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica: CLOUDBRIDGE. Part 2.”
Oooooh! Oooooh! Oooooh! The sun is shining…! After days of seeing only clouds, fog and rain I am happy! So I lace my hiking boots and stroll to Cloudbridge! Continue reading “Hiking in San Gerardo de Rivas, Costa Rica: CLOUDBRIDGE. Part 1.”
This day starts with madre Margarita lighting a fire in the house. In the hearth. The hearth!
“¿Por qué?” (-Why?) I ask naive. It’s warm today and furthermore: one of the walls in the kitchen is made of chicken wire – so the heat wouldn’t stay in the house anyway…
“I cook frijoles!” I get as an answer. Continue reading “Misunderstanding – that’s Spanish to me. Or isn’t.”
My family
My family is rather big. Padre Memo has ten siblings. Madre Margarita twelve. But no worries, the siblings do not live with us in the house 😉

One last view at the Bay….and then my journey started.
And the journey was…long!
Matthias had taken me to the airport on June, 29th, at 12:45 pm and after 24 hours I was supposed to check in in my new home…

And why I want to go to Costa Rica? Continue reading “Good bye California – Bienvenido a Costa Rica. +pain of parting”
I wake up. I’m lying naked on the bed – must have been another hot night… Indeed, the heater is at top speed and Matthis shivers feverish under a huge amount of blankets. Inside it has 100°F, I suppose.
And what about our plan to go to Lake Tahoe – camping and hiking? Continue reading “B E R K E L Y – VS – S T A N F O R D. R E T U R N – J O U R N E Y. Short vacation: Sacramento – Rafting – Lake Tahoe. Day 3.”
Right after closing our eyes we fall asleep. But only a short time later I wake up again – I am sweating…! God, I’m hot! Allthough we only use ONE sleeping bag – all the others are just in case next to us…
Well then, I get rid of my pajama and go back nudism into my bag. Humph. Still hot. And now I also have to go to the toilet. Damn it. If I Continue reading “R A F T I N G -ON -THE -A M E R I C A N -R I V E R with American Whitewater Expeditions. Short Vacation: Sacramento – Rafting – Lake Tahoe. Day 2.”
Tomorrow is Matthias’s birthday. Therefore we could … therefore we could do something … something cool…
We could go rafting for example!
We always wanted to do that. And that is really cool – in the truest sense of the word 🙂 Continue reading “S A C R A M E N T O. Short Vacation: Sacramento – Rafting – Lake Tahoe. Day 1.”
